rootin’-tootin’ no-waste toothpaste tablets

Howdy, partner.

If you brush your teeth, you’re gonna wanna keep scrolling.

NO-WASTE TOOTHPASTE

These eco-friendly toothpaste tablets eliminate the need for plastic tubing, plastic caps, etc. Just tear open the paper pouch, pour the tablets into any empty jar or container you have laying around, recycle or compost the pouch, and there you have it:

toothpaste sans waste.

The Project

I created Howdy as another way to practice branding and continue to build upon my Adobe CS skills. In this project, I focused on learning the basics of Photoshop to create brand photography, merchandise mockups, as well as practice photograph editing. I also learned to use After Effects to make a simple fun animation.

I wanted Howdy to appeal to a wide audience within the adult age range. It’s designed for people who appreciate minimalist aesthetics but also enjoy fun colors and simple graphic elements.

Howdy ‘s main focus is sustainability. This is aimed to be met by the implementation of completely biodegradable packaging that prompts the user to up-cycle containers they own that would likely be thrown away otherwise. It allows users to easily make use of something they already own to contain the toothpaste, instead of being introduced to new solid packaging.

Packaging

Admittedly, the product packaging mockups used to create these prototypes are not meant to be paper material, and thus the slightly shiny appearance. However, the real product is meant to have very similar packaging that is actually fibrous and biodegradable. That being said, the package is meant to be torn open and not completely resealable on its own. This is why the user is asked to pour the contents into their own container (e.g. an old jam jar with a lid, a finished tin mint container, etc.).
