Petaline
A completely customizable makeup palette that aims to satisfy both its users and the planet.
Above are advertisements I designed for two fictitious collections: The Storm collection and the Citrus Bloom collection. The goal of these advertisements are to catch and keep the audience’s eye by being fun and bold. They all cleverly incorporate renders of the actual product.
The Project
This is a personal project for a brand I created from scratch. I wanted to practice my creative skills for a brand based within the beauty industry. Petaline strives for sustainability while also promoting creativity and fun. The product is meant to be a way to eliminate excessive plastic use that is extremely common in beauty and skincare products; this was achieved by using metal, specifically aluminum, as the main material for all the product components. Aluminum is ideal for this design as it is lightweight, malleable for manufacturing purposes, and potentially recyclable. The makeup pots (petals), tins to contain them, as well as the lids to secure the contents are all designed to be made of aluminum.
The brand aims to allow its users to be expressive and unapologetically themselves. It meets this goal by providing fun and funky vibrant colors for the makeup. This concept is conveyed to consumers through the exciting and bright advertisements.
Tools:
Adobe Illustrator was used for the majority of this project. This was used for all the texts, graphics, and advertisements.
Adobe Photoshop was used to capture images of the 3D CAD models I created and import them into Illustrator for branding use, as well as for mockups.
Fusion 360 was used to model the product I designed, which included makeup pots, their contents, a tin, and a lid for keeping all the contents in tact.
Infographics
These are two infographics that I designed for the brand.
The poster on the left helps to explain how the brand works towards its mission of sustainability. It is a little word-heavy in order to fully explain the eco-friendly reasoning behind the products, however the key terms are bolded to give viewers an idea at a glance.
The graphic on the right is a simple how-to guide for how the brand works and what the user is meant to do upon deciding to make a purchase. Combining images of model renders with the numerical list of actions allows for easy reading and comprehension.
